The project NFDI4Earth aims at understanding, harmonizing, communicating and establishing foundations for FAIR data management in Earth System Sciences at large. This includes concrete projects and aims for certain domains, but also overarching activities – in coordiantion with other NFDIs, including basic services (authentication, persistent identifiers, shared vocabularies, ontologies, computational resources) as well as domain-specific developments.
The NFDI4Earth project is decomposed into four task areas as depicted on the side and we contribute to the task area 2EDUCATE.
Within the frame of this project, we contribute to the task area related to education and knowledge dissemination. Further, I am currently co-leading a NFDI4Earth Interest Group on research software, especially on aspects of FAIR research software including open source as well as closed source versions of software facilitating reproducibility of research in geosciences.
